I Believe in:
Behavioural expectations need to be consistently communicated, modeled and reinforced to maintain a positive learning environment. Appropriate behavior should be acknowledged and inappropriate behavior needs to be addressed so that students learn the consequences of their behavior and how to demonstrate more appropriate behavior.
Behaviour management is a complex issue and one in which I am still developing my own approach. However, I feel the heart of my approach will be the consideration of the needs of my students and finding the reasons behind any negative behaviour and how to address them.
- Supportive.
- Preventive.
- Corrective.
I Believe in:
- Student accountability.
- Encouraging ownership of rules through negotiation.
- Having positive and negative consequences for rules.
- Having logical consequences for breaking rules.
