Information and Communication Technologies
A crucial part of planning and preparing lessons is sorting through what resources and technology to use in order to make the content more engaging and challenging for student learning.
In an increasingly technological world where technology is constantly changing and is highly dynamic, and as students become increasingly familiar and proficient with technology, I believe it is fundamental for teachers to integrate ICT into their classrooms. Implementing ICT into the classroom creates a dynamic learning environment as well as a unique tool for enhancing student learning.
I believe there are some wonderful ways to integrate ICT into the classroom for creative and meaningful activity, research and assessment. Used effectively, ICT has a great capacity to engage and motivate students in their work, whilst catering to different learning styles within the classroom. During my teaching practicums, I have been fortunate to have had a number of technologies at my disposal; such as laptops carts, interactive whiteboards, digital projectors, audio/visual equipment and class computers.

How I Use ICT in My Classroom
Listed below are some of the technology tools and applications that I have incorporated into my lessons:
Below is an example of a brochure, Year 9 English students created from a collection of book reviews they had written and collated as part of their writing portfolio. Designed to be placed in the local council libraries, this activity and assessment task incorporated the use of literacy and IT skills and was an activity that students enjoyed and were creative with in their use of computer skills.
- Mathletics.
- Microsoft Office and Publisher.
- Teacher created computer games.
- Kidspiration software.
- Youtube.
- DVD and video presentations.
- Powerpoint.
- Interactive whiteboard and smart-board technologies.
