How I Reflect and Improve My Teaching
I believe that reflection and self-evaluation are inevitable and integral aspects of teaching practice. I believe a teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his or her choices and actions on others and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.
As an emerging practitioner I have had the privilege to meet a number enthusiastic and passionate teaching professionals who have shaped my practice. As a teacher being a part of a community of professionals, I believe that communicating and associating with other professionals and colleagues and attending professional events and seminars will allow me to reflect upon my teaching practice and to grow as a member of my profession.
As I reflect upon my teaching experiences, I have had the privilege of teaching in many different sectors, including Catholic, private, public, co-educational and single sex schools, and meeting many extraordinary students and teachers along the way. As I emerge into the world of teaching, a journey that will no doubt be filled with many challenges and triumphs, I believe that I am still and forever will be a learner. By regularly reflecting upon the planning, teaching and assessment process, I believe I can greatly improve my teaching practice over time.
Looking ahead, it gives me great joy and excitement as to what the future holds for me in education.
