The 'Thinking' Curriculum
The ability to engage in careful, reflective thought, I believe, is paramount to education. Thinking is a skill. Developing thinking skills allows us to take charge, to set up choices, to make decisions, to consider possibilities, to make things happen. Having explicit knowledge and understanding of thinking assists individuals to learn how to learn.
Students must be guided to become producers of knowledge and utilising a number of design principles in my teaching will create a learning environment that allows students opportunities to engage in higher-order thinking. In addition, critical thinking skills and strategies support different learning styles within the classroom and ensures students are engaged in active, challenging and relevant learning.
